The turtles were not mistaken, the beaches of Deshaies are very popular nesting places for leatherback, hawksbill, green and olive ridley turtles. These are environments to preserve and protect! A small trash bag in your backpack, coral-friendly sunscreen, your essential mask and snorkel and you are perfectly equipped to enjoy these little corners of paradise!

Below the Gadet viewpoint, which offers you a breathtaking view of Grande-Anse beach and its bay, a series of charming coves and a stroll along the coast are available to you.
After filling your camera with images of this real postcard, go down the small path and its few steps for a nice surprise: a cove often just for you awaits you to enjoy its bath and its shade.
Continuing along the coast, you will find several small intimate beaches, vestiges of walls of yesteryear, and a charming walk which truly connects the beach of Grande-Anse to Pointe Allègre in Sainte-Rose (The whole team of the hummingbird garden recommends this walk for the more adventurous among you!)
Located between Grande-Anse and La Perle, a sandbank along a very quiet little road: you are there, it is Rifllet beach.
Just as charming as its neighbours, like your Ecolodge, it will bring you the calm and serenity you are looking for! Perfect spot also for the sunset or for a little romantic stroll with your feet in the water... Like all the beaches in North Basse-Terre, it can be exposed to strong swells.
La Perle and its restaurants: two entrances to access this heavenly beach and two entrances lined with super nice restaurants to delight your taste buds.
Located just a few minutes from your vacation rental, can you dream of better than sipping a good fresh pineapple juice with a smoked fish salad facing the sea, a little shade and the sand slipping between your toes? , hair in the gentle wind of the trade winds? The Kahouanne islet and the English head stand in front of you. No restaurants or showers, a short walk to get there, but perfect for an authentic Robinson getaway before reaching your lodge in the hummingbird garden.

The beaches of Deshaies are not supervised, and as you have understood, they can generally be exposed to the swell from the North, which can cause pretty

and to avoid getting hurt: move forward towards the wave! Don't back down, she'll suck you in and pin you down on her roller and

Also be careful with the current, do not underestimate it, it will always be stronger than you! Needless to say that although they are the favorite playgrounds of local children, these wave beaches can be risky for your ti-mouns, don't lose sight of them 😉
