Guadeloupe, Lands of Rums!

Guadeloupe has been a reference in terms of rum for centuries, here this delicious beverage is sacred!
Hot and humid climate, fertile volcanic soil, fields of sugar cane as far as the eye can see, passionate and committed producers and distillers... all the conditions are met for an exceptional rum.

White Rum, old or amber, in punch or planter, taste the Guadeloupean know-how recognized throughout the world... in moderation of course 😉

Make room in your suitcases, because here is a list of distilleries a few steps from your Ecolodge:

Reimonenq Distillery , Sainte-Rose : here we have always worked as a family! Double distillation column unique in the world (yes, in the world!), Rum Museum and universal exhibitions to discover, tastings of rums made on site with love and precision, mixology workshop... You will love the time spent with the Reimonenqs ( In addition, their travel-size rum is very practical for bringing a little sunshine home).

Severin Distillery , Sainte-Rose : known for its little train wandering through the heart of the plantations, you will discover the sugar cane fields in a different way, but also pineapple fields, ponds where you can fish for ouassous (these are our local shrimp), and also Vanilla. This is the last distillery in Guadeloupe to still have a paddle wheel! Then you will taste the rums from the distillery made on site at the end of the visit.

Bologna Distillery , Basse-Terre : In operation since 1887, the Bologna distillery is the oldest in Guadeloupe! Located on the slopes of Soufrière, this plantation experienced different cultures before favoring rum. Discover the family history behind the company, visit the distillery and the production line, and taste the various rums from the distillery, which you have certainly already encountered in mainland France.

Longueteau Distillery , Capesterre Belle-Eau : Located in Bélair since 1895, you will visit the distillery but also the estate, before tasting this emblematic rum of Guadeloupe. Recently at the initiative of a foundation aimed at supporting, preserving and promoting Guadeloupe's cultural heritage, the Longueteau family and its distillery are overflowing with know-how and history. A few meters from the landing site of Christopher Collomb in 1493, the distillery offers you an authentic stopover, to discover a historical and cultural heritage.

Montebello Distillery , Petit-Bourg : “Passion for tradition” is their motto. The identity of Montebello agricultural rums is based on a particular type of distillation, called “continuous column”. Proud of its more than 90 years of existence, the passionate collaborators of the distillery will show you the heart of the production space and a tasting of the house's rums will be offered to you.

Distillerie Damoiseau , Le Moule : Last distillery in Grande-Terre, its slogan “Grande Terre Grand Rhum” claims this particularity. The distillery offers you a visit to its facilities and its 18th century windmill on a free stroll, certainly bucolic for lovers. Take the time during your visit and do not hesitate to question the staff who are keen to share their culture and know-how. Does this little label look familiar to you? With more than 50% market share, it is the leader in Guadeloupe, with 25% of exports to France and Europe.

-Marie-Galantaise Distillery, Bielle , Bellevue and Poisson : The island of Marie-Galante, located in the south of Guadeloupe, is home to 20% of Guadeloupe's sugar cane culture! The planters have managed to maintain 100% traditional cultivation and transport methods (you will come across the famous ox carts, which are used less and less in Guadeloupe). The island of 100 mills is full of treasures, and rum is one of them! The 3 distilleries on the island open their doors to you for a journey through time into the heart of Marie-Galantaise culture, and promise you an unforgettable visit.
