Make your dream of swimming with a turtle come true...

Over the years, Guadeloupe has become aware of the value of its marine heritage and has implemented several species preservation programs. Thus many turtles are again present on our coasts...

Most of the turtles present in the world swim in the waters of Guadeloupe, 5 species out of 7 to be precise! We regularly see green turtles, loggerhead turtles, hawksbill, olive ridley and the biggest, our favorite leatherback turtle!

A few minutes by car to arrive at a fine sand beach; mask, snorkel, fins lent at the Jardin des Hummingbirds reception are put on, the adventure can begin!

After a few strokes of the fins in the blue Caribbean, it didn't take much searching and suddenly there was one… peaceful, quiet, a green turtle “grazes” on the seagrass beds, a daily feast of which it never tires! And then a second, a third, this morning we counted 9, the largest of which was more than a meter in diameter, fantastic!

Some benevolent recommendations transmitted by the Guadeloupe National Park deserve to be respected:

Do not touch the turtles which are very sensitive to the bacteria that we could transmit to them...

Avoid descending towards them in apnea so as not to disturb their environment and their food cycle. It is important to swim calmly and stay at a distance of at least 5m...

This furtive moment when the turtle rises to the surface to breathe, it leaves the dark blue to come into the light, sticks its head out of the water with the sun's rays illuminating its shell... Wahoow, this swim we're not ready to forget it!
